Greta Franklin, a beautiful American blonde, arrives on an island near Venice and rings the door-bell of Richard Stuart, a famous novelist who lives in a beautiful house with his wife Elonora. She manages to be hired as Richard's new secretary, the former one having disappeared without a trace. Enjoyable with plenty of nudity....
Rather uneven and with a slowish start, although this does include a lesbian scene between the two lovely leads, Amuck does get going and although it's not exactly, full steam ahead, there are some fine moments. Barely qualifying as a giallo this nevertheless has enough sexy/nasty/weird scenes to get by very nicely. Venice manages to be made to look grey and spooky and the lagoon particularly creepy with a fine scene covering the disposal of a nude girl. Grainger just gets by but it's the girls that truly shine, oh and the monster that is the raping fisherman - has a way with eels too! Enjoyable, with plenty of nudity and some creepiness even if it doesn't work as well as it might have.
