Who is killing the clients of beautiful call girl Paola Senatore?

"A.A.A. Masseuse" is a solid and entertaining giallo, done in a straightforward and low-key style. Despite the call-girl occupation of the lead character and plenty of footage showing most but not all of her nude, the film is actually tastefully done and does not come across as exploitative.

Ms. Senatore plays Cristina, an 18-year old girl, rather headstrong, who wants to be on her own and not with her parents, especially her father. He's a good breadwinner but won't let her lead her own life. So she leaves. She goes to live with a friend, Paola, who has a boyfriend, Franco. The story moves quickly at times. Cristina places an ad in the paper and almost immediately is turning a trick for money. After 2 or 3 johns, she joins up with a pimp-manager who has contacts with a wealthy circle. Cristina is level-headed and doesn't let him take advantage of her.

The movie is critical of these older, leering voyeur types with their fetishes, who are hot for the bloom and soft skin of this pliant and youthful woman with a nice figure.

The giallo pattern sets in. A masked figure with a razor arrives shortly after she has serviced a professor and dispatches him adroitly.

The police have no leads. But after a second and third such slaying, more information surfaces and Cristina is questioned. As we head into the last part of the film, one can guess pretty well what lies ahead, but it's not so easy to guess the murderer. The story has an abundance of possibles, Paola, Franco, her pimp, her father, and her boyfriend. In one way or another, each could have a motive and each could have found where she was going.

This is an unpretentious mystery with the assets of Senatore's beauty, a light touch, an oblique takedown of those who rent this girl's services, and even a little bit of consideration of why some girls will go for what seems to be the easy money.
